A new airline is servicing three cities in the Province of Saskatchewan. Swanberg Air touched down in the City of Regina for the first time Monday afternoon. The 19 seat aircraft makes 3 trips a week from Grande Prairie, Alberta to Estevan. Along the way, it stops in Red Deer, Calgary, Swift Current and Regina. This is Swanberg's first foray into our province. They operate 7 planes, and serve mainly the oil sector in BC and Alberta. But one of their passengers Monday afternoon, was just headed home to Swift Current.
Brad Wall, Premier of Saskatchewan: "This is very good news! Not just for Swift Current, for the South-East, for Estevan. I think it's also a sign of confidence in our economy. We're not immune to the recession, but still Saskatchewan's economy is moving forward. It's comparatively strong. If people are looking for evidence of that, there's a plane behind me that would be the evidence."
Rich Wilde, Swanberg Air: "Saskatchewan, with Swift Current, Estevan, the Southern part of the province of course is oil country. So a lot of our customers have offices in Estevan, Weyburn, Swift Current."
