Criminal charges could be laid against six Sasktel employees for allegedly defrauding the crown corporation of more than 114-thousand dollars
In one instance, 3 employees set up a company outside of Sasktel and then awarded a contract to that company without putting it to tender.
The three managers and two crown employees later hired at the new company were all terminated. The five were deemed to be in a conflict of interest.
In a separate case of fraud, an employee at DirectWest forged cheques to himself over a three year period ending earlier this year. The loss is estimated 20-thousand dollars.
Sasktel is attempting to recover lost funds. Both matters are now in the hands of police.
The incidents were included a quarterly report on losses within government and at crown corporations.
